Inspirations

I work mainly in oils, watercolours and mixed media. Living in County Wexford I have no shortage of inspiration, from our beautiful sandy beaches, coastlines, tillage fields, meadows and forests. These are continuously inspiring, rejuvenating and shaping my work. I really enjoy working plein air style which means working outdoors in the environment and meeting people who share their thoughts and memories about the area. This engagement brings excitement and energy to my work and allows me to see and explore the subject in a different light. The changing aspects of the weather and light make this way of working both exciting and challenging. Sometimes I have to work both quickly and loosely to allow the painting to change as time passes and the environment changes.
